Holistic Weight Loss

If you think that losing weight and keeping it off is achievable by following a diet plan and going to the gym, you only have half of the story. Today I came across a great article that really made me think. By the time I had finished reading about Callie’s weight loss article, I realised where I had gone wrong with all of my previous failed diets.

Permanent weight loss requires a whole change in attitude. It’s not enough to go through the motions as presribed by the latest diet guru. You have to change the way you think about food, about your body and about exercise. If you’re unsure of what you need to do, try observing slim people and see how they eat, move and relate to their bodies. When you find someone who you’d like to emulate, then do your best to incorporate their habits, attitudes etc, into your day to day life.

Nothing in life worth having or keeping comes easily. It all needs a little bit of work, and that is true for weight loss and weight maintenance. As soon as people understand this, I think that we’ll all stop going on fad diets, eating these convenience foods and popping weight loss pills.

Callie says: “It’s so easily to fall into the regular routine of eating when you feel upset or depressed, eating because you have nothing better to do. I was never obese by any means but I did put on some weight. You can tell by photos that I definitely had some weight on me and if it wasn’t for a dear Uncle I would probably still be in a dark place…

So as you can see health just isn’t about eating right and exercising it’s a lot more than people realize. It’s not about the new diet craze which I boycott because what do fads do? Many people will never know that it requires balance in all areas of your life and these days that’s just hard to do. I know because my husband finds it hard to make it to the gym because of his crazy work schedule. I know because I have a 16 month old daughter who demands my attention and sucks out every drop of energy I have. This is not bad though because she definitely keeps you moving, she’s also a good weight to bench press

My journey to being healthy wasn’t easy, and it never is for anyone and I’ll tell you my diet isn’t all that great because it is too easy to fall on modern conveniences of fast food and delivery. The easiest thing I’ve found is to write out your goals, your nutrition plan, workout schedule and any personal goals on the fridge, your mirror, at your office desk or where ever you spend you time this will serve as a constant reminder of what your trying to achieve; your own vitality.”
